I use Kosher salt for tenderizing meat. With this salt you have to be careful not to put too much salt on the meat, but enough so that it will break down the connective tissue and tenderize the meat. Since the grains are larger for Kosher salt than for regular salt, I needed a shaker that I could adjust the size to make larger holes--this worked perfectly.
