Remove the protective film from the ant nest before use. 2. Rinse the ant nest and the moisturizing sponge with clean water and allow to dry slightly before installing. 3. Place the nest on a stable surface. Use a strong desk lamp or flashlight aimed at the feeding area to encourage ants to enter the nest. Do not place food or objects in the feeding area while using light to prompt entry. 4. You may pour ants from a collection bottle directly into the activity area. Use tweezers to remove fallen leaves, straw, or debris. 5. Wait patiently for ants to move into the nest. Entry time varies by number, species, and temperament and generally ranges from a few hours to a day.
