Add a nitrogen source and structure by layering fallen leaves about 10 cm deep, then add grass clippings about 5 cm deep, followed by kitchen waste and garden waste. with soil around 60 cm deep to reduce odors. 3. If conditions are dry, add water when adding each layer. Dig a groove in the middle of the compost to collect excess water. A shiny compost surface indicates adequate moisture. 4. Turn the compost and add water every two weeks to accelerate decomposition. 5. Compost is ready when internal temperature no longer rises and the material darkens.
