High-Frequency Induction Heating Module for Small-Scale Metalwork This compact induction heating module delivers up to 1000 W of high-frequency heating power, making it a versatile addition to any DIY workshop. Built on a double-sided fibreglass board with copper wiring for extended durability, the module is designed for continuous use when paired with adequate cooling. The entire oscillating circuit sits on the reverse of the board, and for prolonged operation, a fan blowing from top to bottom is recommended to keep the resonant capacitors and other components at a safe temperature. Practical Heating Performance The module operates on a 12–36 V DC power supply, which is not included, and accepts a 40 mm crucible. Its moderate output makes it well suited to small-parts DIY enthusiasts carrying out heat treatment tasks such as quenching and annealing. With a graphite crucible, you can melt gold, silver, copper, aluminium and other metals quickly and evenly, thanks to the uniform heating pattern produced by the induction coil. Beyond straightforward induction heating, this board can also be adapted to convert copper pipe into a high-frequency transformer, effectively functioning as a powerful inverter. The specially made substrate measures 8.5 mm thick and works with an added heat sink to reduce heat generation and improve cooling performance, contributing to greater overall efficiency. Choosing the Right Input Voltage Heating current rises with input voltage, so higher voltages produce stronger heating effects. However, this also increases heat output, so the input voltage should be selected according to your specific requirements. For most applications, a 24 V or 36 V power supply offers a good balance between heating performance and thermal management.
