Coating Thickness Gauge for Vehicle and Industrial Use This GM200A coating thickness gauge offers a practical way to check paint and coating depths on metal surfaces, with a measurement range of 0 to 1.80 mm. It is supplied in a blue finish and is designed for use on motor vehicles as well as in general industrial settings. Straightforward Vehicle Mode In vehicle mode, the gauge has built-in data for the GM200A model, so no calibration is needed before use. You can measure coating thickness directly on iron, aluminium and zinc substrates, which makes it particularly convenient for assessing the condition of car paintwork and body panels. User Mode for Calibrated Measurements For more controlled testing, user mode allows you to calibrate the gauge to a specific metal substrate before taking readings. Once calibrated to that metal, the gauge will measure coating thickness on that surface only. For example, if you calibrate it using an iron substrate, it will not give accurate readings on an aluminium one. This mode is useful when you need consistent measurements on a known base material. Calibration Guidance Calibration in user mode does not affect the factory default vehicle mode, which is set using an iron substrate. When calibrating in user mode, the substrate should have a diameter of at least 50 mm and a thickness of at least 0.5 mm. The critical thickness for the base metal is also 0.5 mm or greater, so the gauge is best suited to surfaces that meet these minimum dimensions.
