4 x 20D-20 Thermistor Inrush Current Limiter for Ballast CFL, Black

What They Are These are four WMF21 series thermistors in the 20D-20 size, supplied as a set. They are radial lead components with a resin coating, designed to limit inrush current in power supply circuits. The black body and compact form make them straightforward to fit into standard circuit layouts. How They Work As the thermistor warms up during operation, its material consistency increases while residual resistance drops. This behaviour allows the component to respond quickly to changes in current flow. The heat capacity is directly proportional to the product of the thermal time constant and the thermal loss constant, which means the stronger the heat capacity, the more effectively the inrush current can be limited. In practical terms, this gives you fast response, reliable performance and a long service life. Where to Use Them These thermistors are suited to limiting inrush current in the power supply loops of various power supplies, ballasts and compact fluorescent lamps. They can also be used in the heating loops of CRT televisions and monitors, heaters and heating filaments. The set of four gives you spares or allows multiple units to be fitted where needed.
