When pressed against the workpiece, it stores energy in a spring and eventually releases it as a pulse that propels the punch and produces the dimple. The impulse provided to the punch tip is quite repeatable, allowing for consistent impressions. Features: The tip of this automatic center punch is made of high-speed steel for strength and durability. You don't need a hammer; with this self-centering tool, you can create a dimple in a workpiece quickly and easily. Generally used to mark the center of a point, the small notch guides the drill bit tip and prevents slippage or deflection that causes damage. Suitable for drilling into steel plates, aluminum, copper, wood boards, and other materials to position holes. It's also a great tool to keep in your car to use for breaking windows in an emergency.
