Then remove the door handle and window switch panel from the door panel. If they are still attached, remove the window switch panel from the handle. Next, remove the old bracket from the handle. The half round flat end has only a small lip, with the rest of it flush with the handle. If the entire bracket has come off, try cutting, making a shim like part (approximately 0.1 inch thick) to fill the space between the new bracket and handle. Then, install the new bracket onto the handle, ensuring placement and alignment. The back of the new bracket has a half round that should be flush with the remaining part of the damaged bracket. This may require some additional cutting of the damaged bracket to achieve the proper fit, but do not remove all the flat edges as this is the proper fit for the new bracket. Next, apply strong adhesive to the inner side (half round and inner wall) of the remaining bracket inside the handle, and place the new bracket in position. Before the glue dries, quickly screw the new bracket down with the removed screws. Finally, reassemble the door in reverse order. Attaching the handle to the door panel and then attaching the window switch panel to the combined handle panel may produce a better result. It may be necessary to press the window switch frame firmly into place with the palm of your hand to fully seat the frame into the new bracket.
