This Yoita Soichiro Small Plane 42mm is a compact Japanese kanna ideal for detailed woodworking and carpentry. Designed for precision, its carbon steel blade and durable oak body deliver consistent results when shaping, smoothing, or adjusting wooden surfaces in fine joinery. The added rear metal backing helps maintain flatness during use, improving the shaving finish and extending tool longevity.Perfect for adjusting surface height in narrow or cornered areas, this tool excels in carpentry, cabinetry, joinery and intricate wood-based assembly. Its compact body allows better control for tasks such as smoothing wood surfaces, or preparing components in DIY furniture and model construction.Product Data:• Size: 42mm blade width x 180mm body length• Handle Material: Oak• Blade Material: Carbon tool steel• Weight: Approx. 155g• Made in JapanTo use, gently tap the back of the blade with a small hammer to advance the edge and adjust cutting depth. For finer cuts or to retract the blade, strike both front corners of the plane body. When adjusting the rear metal (uragane), align it so that it extends 0.2–0.5mm behind the cutting edge for optimal performance.Wipe the blade clean after each use and apply a light oil to prevent rust. Store in a dry place away from moisture. Avoid striking the wooden body with excessive force, and never plane nails or non-wood materials to preserve blade sharpness. Keep out of reach of children.
