The memory saver can be powered by any 12V starter with an OBD II interface. It connects between a 12V DC power source and the vehicle's OBD II interface, saving vehicle codes and electronic presets. However, new cars rely on the onboard computer to control everything from the audio system to the transmission. If the computer loses power, all settings are lost and must be reset to default values. This means the vehicle might feel different while driving, and you might need to enter a security code to access the audio system. Using this simple memory saver when changing your car battery can help you avoid these problems. The device uses any 12V DC power source, including a car starter, a 12V lead-acid battery, or a 12V DC power outlet in another vehicle. Our product comes with a 4-meter cable, which is especially convenient if you don't have a starter (or lead-acid battery) on hand. Additionally, the device can also draw 12V power from the cigarette lighter socket of another working car. Simply plug the cigarette lighter plug into that car and the 16-pin connector into the OBD interface of the car whose battery you want to replace. Now you can replace the battery. Because typical OBD automatic memory retainers lack reverse polarity protection (AIP), incorrect polarity input could damage your car's electronic control unit (ECU). Our newly upgraded OBD automatic memory retainer incorporates AIP safety; if incorrect polarity is input, the AIP function will automatically activate (preventing current from being transmitted to your car); even the LED indicator on the memory retainer will not illuminate. This ensures adequate protection for your car and other electrical equipment even if the power supply is incorrect.
