2. To run an external GPU dock at PCIe x16 speeds, two data cables are required; using only one cable limits operation to PCIe x8. Therefore, do not arbitrarily swap or replace the cables, or the system will not function. 3. For PCIe x16 operation, connect the cables as follows: connect port J1 on the motherboard-side adapter card to port J1 on the GPU dock adapter card, and connect port J2 on the motherboard-side adapter card to port J2 on the GPU dock adapter card. For PCIe x8 operation, only one cable is needed: connect port J1 on the motherboard-side adapter card to port J2 on the GPU dock adapter card. 4. External GPU setups inevitably involve compatibility issues; not every computer is compatible with every graphics card, and vice versa. Due to compatibility factors involving the motherboard, CPU, and graphics card, some cards may only run at PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 2.0 speeds on certain motherboards. Additionally, compatibility can vary between different brands of the same graphics card model.
