NE555 Signal Generator Module This compact module is built around the NE555 timer chip and delivers a dependable square wave output for a range of electronics projects. It is particularly well suited to driving stepper motors and other applications that require a clean, adjustable pulse signal. Adjustable Frequency and Amplitude The generator offers four selectable frequency ranges: 1 Hz to 50 Hz, 50 Hz to 1 kHz, 1 kHz to 10 kHz, and 10 kHz to 200 kHz. This flexibility allows you to match the output to the needs of your circuit, whether you are working with slow timing pulses or faster signal generation. The input accepts a DC supply between 5 V and 15 V, with the output amplitude varying accordingly. At a 5 V input, the output amplitude is approximately 4.2 V peak-to-peak, rising to around 11.4 V peak-to-peak when powered at 12 V. Output Current and Duty Cycle Control The module can deliver up to 15 mA of output current when powered at 5 V, and approximately 35 mA at 12 V, making it suitable for driving a variety of loads. The output duty cycle can be fine-tuned to suit your application. Please note that the duty cycle and frequency are linked; adjusting the duty cycle will also alter the frequency, so the two are not set independently. Visual Output Indicator A built-in LED provides a clear visual indication of the output state. The LED lights up when the output is low and switches off when the output is high. At lower frequencies, the LED will visibly blink, giving you immediate feedback on the signal being generated. This makes it easy to confirm that the module is operating correctly and to observe the effect of your adjustments in real time.
