Max98357a I2S Class D Amplifier accepts standard I2S digital audio input, internally decodes the data stream to high‑quality analog audio and directly drives a speaker, eliminating the need for a separate DAC and power amp stage to simplify compact audio and embedded sound system designs. • Ultra‑efficient Class D power stage operates from a low DC 2.7V‑5.5V supply while delivering up to 3W output, providing excellent efficiency with minimal heat generation and extended battery life, making it ideal for portable DIY speakers, smart IoT voice projects and compact handheld audio devices. • The MAX98357 MAX98357A I2S 3W Class D Amplifier Breakout is designed for seamless integration with Raspberry Pi, for Arduino, ESP32 and other microcontroller platforms that provide I2S audio output, enabling quick prototyping of digital audio projects, voice assistants and notification systems. • Configurable Gain pin allows flexible gain selection to match different speakers and source levels; default gain is 9dB, and by using pull‑up or pull‑down resistors or direct wiring, you can conveniently choose between 3dB, 6dB, 9dB, 12dB or 15dB amplification without complex external circuitry. • I2S is a widely used on‑board digital sound protocol that routes audio between high‑end chips and processors; this module accepts I2S using data, bit clock and left‑right channel select lines, acting as both DAC and amplifier to replace traditional DAC‑plus‑amp chains in modern embedded audio applications.
