The parallel resistance formula R = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2 + ... + 1/Rn) governs the combined value, and the switch arrangement allows you to generate three distinct resistance types for different testing needs. Practical Testing and Discharge Use With a 10W power rating across the resistor network, this compact load is suited to discharge testing of USB batteries and power supplies. By selecting different switch positions, you can vary the load and observe how the source responds under different current draws. The actual current in any configuration follows Ohm's law, I = V/R, so you can calculate the expected draw for your specific test voltage. This makes it a straightforward, repeatable tool for bench testing, troubleshooting or evaluating the real capacity of 5V power sources rated at 1A, 2A or 3A.
